“Rlung-rta”: ein Eis-Windpferd bringt durch grüne Technologie das Wasser zurück nach Mustang.
Weiße Pferde gelten im Buddhismus als heilig, wenn sie erscheinen verbreiten sie Frieden, Wohlstand und Harmonie. Nun kommen die heiligen Windpferde (tib. rlung-rta) in Form von wasserbringenden IceStupas nach Nepal zurück. Im alten Königreich Mustang werden wir mit Hilfe bewährter „grüner“ Technologie den ersten IceStupa Nepals im Winter 2021/2022 bauen, um so die durch den Klimawandel grassierende Wasserknappheit vor Ort zu mildern. Die verschwindenden Gletscher des Himalaya sind die dramatische Folge der global steigenden Temperaturen. Ganze Täler sind durch extreme Wasserarmut gezwungen, alte traditionelle Lebens- und Bewirtschaftungsformen aufzugeben. Die Bevölkerung wird in die überfüllten Städte gedrängt, um dort ein Auskommen zu finden.
Mit diesem Projekt „rlung-rta“ (Windpferd) bringen wir den ersten IceStupa in ein abgeschiedenes Tal im alten Königreich Mustang. Mit Hilfe der bereits bewährten grünen IceStupa-Technologie (www.icestupa.org) wird im Winter 2021/22 ein kleiner künstlicher Gletscher als Wasserspeicher gebaut, der dann im darauffolgenden Frühjahr der lokalen Bevölkerung das so dringend benötigte Wasser für die tägliche Versorgung, aber vor allem auch für die lokale Landwirtschaft liefern wird.
Das Projekt wird mithilfe der IceStupa-Experten von aus der indischen Ladakh-Region, sowie Einheimischen vor Ort umgesetzt. Die hier angesetzte Projekt-Finanzierung bezieht sich auf das erste Eis-Windpferd. Im darauffolgenden Jahr ist eine Fortsetzung geplant. Weitere „rlung-rta“ in Nepal sollen folgen. Die langfristige Versorgung der einheimischen Bevölkerung mit lebensnotwendigem Wasser auch in Zeiten des Klimawandels ist die Herausforderung. Das Sichern der Existenz in der Heimat das langfristige Ziel.

In the ancient kingdom of Mustang, we will use proven „green“ technology to build Nepal’s first IceStupa in the winter of 2021/2022 to help alleviate the local water shortage that is rampant due to climate change. The Himalayas‘ disappearing glaciers are the dramatic result of rising global temperatures. Entire valleys are being forced to abandon old traditional ways of living and farming due to extreme water scarcity. The population is forced into the overcrowded cities to find a livelihood.
With this project „rlung-rta“ (wind horse) we bring the first IceStupa to a remote valley in the ancient kingdom of Mustang. With the help of the already proven green IceStupa technology (www.icestupa.org), a small artificial glacier will be built as a water reservoir in the winter of 2021/22, which will then provide the local population with the much-needed water for daily supplies, but above all for local agriculture, the following spring.
The project is being implemented with the help of icestupa-experts from the Ladakh region of India and local people. The project funding set out here relates to the first ice windhorse. A continuation is planned for the following year. Further „rlung-rta“ in Nepal are to follow. The long-term supply of the local population with vital water, even in times of climate change, is the challenge. Securing the livelihood in the home country is the long-term goal.
